She started with a dream of cleaning up a highly-toxic industry and, in just a few short years, launched a self-funded, clean nail polish brand that’s sold in major department stores across the country.

After obtaining her degree in Chemistry from Spelman College, Kitiya spent years in the consulting, advertising and entertainment industries, garnering business skills that would prove vital to her success. She nurtured her love of all-things-beauty by obtaining licenses in Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Makeup Artistry; as well as studying professionally under Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, and Elizabeth Arden's Red Door Spa.

Kitiya’s interdisciplinary experience allowed her to single-handedly turn Mischo Beauty into a clean luxury sensation. The beloved brand has received accolades from Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar and Essence, while Kitiya herself has received numerous entrepreneurial awards. Amongst the many awards received, Mischo Beauty was recently named Oprah's Favorite Things 2021 and "The 20 Best Nail Polish Brands of All Time" by Harper's Bazaar, as well as awarded Cosmopolitan Magazine’s 2023 Holy Grail Beauty Award, Essence Magazine’s 2023 Best In Black Beauty Award and Allure Magazine's Best of Beauty 2021 Award - to name a few!
